All you need to do is place your approved household items into the skip bin. Once your clean-up is complete, Backyard Bins will retrieve the bin and ensure the accepted waste is properly disposed of or recycled where possible.

Items Requiring Special Handling

Some items cannot be disposed of in either regular garbage cans or Backyard Bins skip bins. This includes paint, fuel, gasoline cans, flammable materials, liquids, chemicals, pesticides, oils, batteries, car batteries, asbestos, car tyres, mattresses, gas bottles, fire extinguishers and other hazardous or restricted items. Please note, Backyard Bins no longer offers asbestos removal services.

If you are not sure whether an item can be placed in a skip bin, talk with one of the Backyard Bins team members about rubbish restrictions when scheduling your skip bin delivery. We’ll do our best to point you in the right direction, but restricted items must be handled through an approved waste facility or specialist disposal service.

The size of the skip bin depends on the volume of waste you have. For small clean-ups, a 2m³ skip bin may be sufficient, while larger projects like clearing out an inherited home might require a 6m³ or 8m³ bin. Contact us for advice on the best size for your needs.

You can dispose of general household waste such as furniture, old appliances, clothes, toys, cardboard, and other non-hazardous items. Please note that hazardous materials like chemicals, batteries, or asbestos are not permitted.
