Handling asbestos on your own may be cheaper than hiring an asbestos removal company, but it is not an easy task. You do not need to hire a removalist with a licence if asbestos is non-friable or in good condition. If it is in a small quantity, then removal can quick, but safety precautions must be in place. Contamination may happen, but it is usually minor and may not cause severe problems for most people.
However, it is always best to seek help from licenced individuals, especially in dealing with more than 10 square metres of asbestos. The removalist should be experienced and is knowledgeable about the material. The right tools and methods should be used since there is never room for mistakes when handling asbestos.
